GAME OF LIFTS + POTLUCK THIS SATURDAY!

We’re excited to have everyone together for the Game of Lifts! Below you’ll find the full list of athletes competing on Saturday. Both sessions have filled up at 26 athletes each so we are going to have a ton of energy in the gym!

This is a partner competition designed to be competitive, fast-moving, and most importantly, fun. We’re not here to be the lifting police. Come lift heavy, cheer for your partner, meet some new people, and have a good time.

How Game of Lifts Works

  • You’ll compete with a partner.

  • Each athlete gets 5 Snatch attempts + 5 Clean & Jerk attempts.

  • Points are awarded for successful lifts based on the percentage chart below.

  • Missed lifts are -2 points per miss.

  • Each team will receive a paper scorecard to track their attempts and points.

  • SoCal coaches and coaches from other gyms will be judging lifts and determining whether they’re good.

Scoring
80–83% - 2 points
84–87% - 3 points
88–91% - 4 points
92–95% - 5 points
96–99% - 6 points
100%+ - 7 points

Based on this point system, you and your teammate can strategize on what will be the best way for your team to accumulate as many points as you can (max out 5 times and hit it successfully twice? keep is simple and hit 80, 80, 85, 85, 90%?)

Potluck at 12pm

Once the lifting wraps up, we’re having a potluck at 12:00 PM and we hope everyone sticks around! If you want to eat with us, please bring something to share with the group.

Hang out for a while, eat some food, meet athletes from the other gyms, and help us celebrate the opening of the new SoCal Weightlifting home.
