Custodian/Maintenance
Part time, up to 10 hours/week

Role Overview
The custodian is responsible for the regular cleaning and maintenance of our 8,000 sq ft facility. The individual will perform heavy cleaning duties like vacuuming, zamboniing, tidying, sanitizing, and light maintenance work like installing things on the wall, fixing basic fixtures, and manage the inventory of our cleaning supplies and tools.

Qualifications
Knowledge of standard cleaning methods/procedures
Must be reliable and show up on schedule
Ability to stand, walk and bend for hours
Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules
Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders and work at particular heights
Be able to do basic maintenance around the facility

Availability
Flexible work schedule, just not during main training hours

Fitness Instructor
Part time, 2-4 hours/week

Role Overview
The Fitness Instructor is responsible for instructing our fitness classes, leading the small group classes through warm-up, strength training, and high intensity workouts. Classes are structured like a 1 hr CrossFit class.

Qualifications
Fitness certification (CrossFit L1, Personal Training, NSCA, etc)
Experience leading group fitness classes

Availability
MWFSa 8:15a
Thursday 5:30pm
*You don’t need to be available for ALL of these times, but these are the times of the classes

Sport Science Internship powered by K2

Introduction
In collaboration with K2 Sciences and USC, SoCal Weightlifting (Costa Mesa, CA) is seeking highly motivated applicants for this Sports Science Internship. Individuals will gain knowledge and experience in the field of olympic weightlifting working with male and female athletes competing at the National and International level. Interns will also work with the youth developmental program including male and female weightlifters age 11 to 18 who also compete nationally and internationally.  This internship can be used to apply for NSCA CEU. 

SoCal Weightlifting is a USC off-site location for data collection partnering with the Clinical Exercise Research Center (CERC), Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy (University of Southern California). Interns will be offered the opportunity to assist in collecting and processing data by working alongside graduate students.

Daily responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

Data Collection
Daily data collection under the direct supervision of Antonio Squillante, Director of Sport Science at SoCal Weightlifting. 

Force Plates: VALD Performance ForceDecks used for athlete testing and monitoring, athlete readiness, and force-velocity profiling. 

Linear Position Transducers: GymAware and Push 2.0 used for velocity-based training, athlete profiling, testing, testing and predicting 1RM;

HRV Wearables: Biosptraps/HRV4TRAINING used to monitor acute and chronic fatigue, readiness, and change in performance throughout the menstrual cycle.

Coaching
Up to 20 hours/week of coaching under the direct supervision of Chris Amenta, Owner and High Performance Director at SoCal Weightlifting. Interns will be assisting with return to play protocols under the direct supervision of Christine Na, DPT  Director of  Sports Medicine  at SoCal Weightlifting.

The internship offers professional development opportunities as well,  including various educational assignments during the internship and access to NSCA-approved continuing education events.  

Day-to-day data collection and coaching is available Monday to Friday from 2:30PM to 7:30 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. To complete the internship a minimum of 150 hours are required (full-time 40h/week; part-time 20h/week).  

Responsibilities will be assigned based on current and available projects. Interested applicants must exhibit effective communication skills, teamwork, positive energy, attention to detail, sense of urgency, and strong work ethic. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Exercise Science or related field

  • Certified in CPR/First Aid

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA CSCS)

  • Proficiency with technology including basic computer skills, statistics, and coding (R/MathLab)

International applicants will be considered for the position as well. Housing is not provided. 

Compensation
This is an unpaid volunteer position. Interns will have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities. If accepted, applicants will be required to complete and clear a background check.
