Associate Coaching Course

The goal of this coaching course is to advance your knowledge of weightlifting for yourself and for your athletes. The course will focus on the development of your skills in 5 different areas of coaching: Programming, Athlete Development, Athlete/Coach Relationship, Coaching Development and Mechanics of the Lifts. You will come away from this course having developed a substantial level of knowledge as a coach in the sport of weightlifting.

Cohort 1 Start Date - SOLD OUT
First Class February 6, 2024
First Cohort Last Class: May 15, 2024

Cohort 2 Start Date - STARTED
First Class: Wednesday, March 27, 2024
Last Class: July 17, 2024

The first class on March 27 will be an introductory class. April 3 will be the first class with educational content.
Classes will be weekly on Wednesdays at 10am PST except for June 19th due to Nationals Week.
Installment payments will be due upon registration + May 1, June 5, and July 3.

Cohort 3 Start Date
First Class: Tuesday, May 28, 2024
Last Class: Sept 10, 2024
The first class on May 28 will be an introductory class. June 4 will be the first class with educational content.
Classes will be weekly on Tuesdays at 12:30pm PST except for June 18th due to Nationals Week.
Installment payments will be due upon registration + July 2, August 6, and September 3.

Prerequisites
USAW L1 Certification
Have a desire to further your weightlifting education.

Registration Information and Fees
Registration will be capped at 10 coaches.
Registration deadline for Cohort 2 starting March 27, 2024 will be March 26 or until sold out.
Registration deadline for Cohort 3 starting May 28, 2024 will be May 27 or until sold out.
$1000 lump sum or 4 installments of $250 with your first payment due on your registration date and the following due on the day of the first call of each subsequent month.

Course Level Learning Outcomes

  • Coaches will be able to build out an annual program understanding both linear and block programming, as well as understand various KPI’s specific to weightlifting and how to collect the data.

  • Coaches will understand the various stages of athlete development from the LTAD, Russian Classification system, and modified versions. They will be able to identify an athlete’s needs and set appropriate athlete goals.

  • Coaches will have a clear understanding of the role of the coach, skills required to be a trusted relational coach, boundaries necessary to maintain healthy relationships, and be able to apply these aspects in both one on one and group settings.

  • Coaches will have a deep understanding of the mechanics of the lifts connecting different phases of the lift and different variations with their main lifts.

CEU’s
We will be registering the course with NSCA and anticipate this course being 1.5 CEU’s.
