We will be hosting our 2POOD Spring Classic on April 27-28, 2024.

Each contestant will receive a 2POOD belt and the top 3 males and females from each group will receive a special custom belt.

The event will be open to 150 athletes.

Women will compete on Saturday and men will compete on Sunday. Sessions will be organized by entry total.

In this course, participants will delve deeper into topics covered in the Level 1 course, as well as learn about essentials such as organizing and selecting exercises for weightlifting, biomechanical analysis of weightlifting movements, and competition preparation. Over the course of two days, expert USAW coaches will cover how to build periodized training plans for any sport using scientifically based principles as well as how to systematically detect, correct, and cue technique flaws.

Course Learning Outcomes:
The course aims broadly to develop coaches who are informed, creative, thoughtful, flexible, adaptable, and reflective. At the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Analyze lifting technique through the lens of biomechanics to examine the rationale behind the Level 1 recommendations

  • Individualize weightlifting technique to maximize performance

  • Deliver highly effective feedback to better serve your athletes

  • Apply the scientific underpinnings of periodization to improve programming skills

  • Create periodized training for weightlifting and sport performance athletes

  • Instruct/coach/manage a lifter at a national level competition

Bar Slams & Grand Slams

It’s field trip time for all Southern California Weightlifting athletes!

This event is open to all athletes in the weightlifting community. Athletes will head over to SoCal Weightlifting to get their training in from 8am-2pm with Coach Chris, Spencer and Stef from The Strength Tank.

After training, we will be meeting at Karl Strauss Brewing Co across the street from the stadium before the game if you want hang out prior to the game starting, and then we will make our way on over to Angel Stadium, taking in the Angels game at 6:38pm and having a good time!

There will be fireworks and a concert by Kip Moore after the game at the stadium.

RSVP below so we know how many people will be coming to train and so we can purchase the correct number of group tickets.

Tickets for the game are $15.

Join us for some hockey, beer, and fun watching the Anaheim Ducks take on the Dallas Stars.

Warm-up will take place around 6pm and puck drop will be at 7pm.

Parking isn’t cheap so carpool if you can!

Tickets are $25 and can be paid for below. We will be purchasing all the tickets so we can make sure we all sit together and then texting/emailing them to you prior to the event.

Associate Coaching Course

The goal of this coaching course is to advance your knowledge of weightlifting for yourself and for your athletes. The course will focus on the development of your skills in 5 different areas of coaching: Programming, Athlete Development, Athlete/Coach Relationship, Coaching Development and Mechanics of the Lifts. You will come away from this course having developed a substantial level of knowledge as a coach in the sport of weightlifting.

Registration Information and Fees
Registration will be capped at 15 coaches.
Registration deadline for Cohort 2 starting March 27, 2024 will be March 20 or until sold out.
Registration deadline for Cohort 3 starting May 28, 2024 will be May 21 or until sold out.
$1000 lump sum or 4 installments of $250 with your first payment due on your registration date and the following due 5/1, 6/5 and 7/3.

The event will be open to 90 athletes and will be a one day event.
We sold out the allotted 75 registration spots but will be pulling an additional 15 off the waitlist to build out the schedule so please submit your info there!
