SoCal Weightlifting is excited to continue with our Seminar Series which we host every other month. Each session we focus on a different aspect of the lift and may revisit certain aspects depending on what we see participants needing. This is the perfect excuse to come check us out, learn something new about your lifts, and have a good time!

Come to one, or come to them all - we'll be here either way.

Southern California Weightlifting Championship

Southern California, CA – SoCal Weightlifting Club and Double Barrel Weightlifting have partnered together to host the first ever Southern Pacific LWC (Local Weightlifting Committee) Series to crown the top weightlifting athletes and clubs in the Southern Pacific.

In the past decade, weightlifting has seen a dramatic increase in participation across the nation. Here in Southern California, there is still much to be done to bring awareness to the sport and we want to create opportunities to foster increased participation. In order to develop community, support, and competition within Southern California, SoCal Weightlifting Club and Double Barrel Weightlifting have partnered to develop a series that we hope will showcase athletes and award the top athletes and clubs.

This series will consist of 3 meets culminating with a Championship meet in July.

Event 1: Double Barrel Classic Feb 10 – 11, 2018
Event 2: SoCal Spring Classic April 14-15, 2018
Championship: Southern California Weightlifting Championship presented by American Weightlifting July 21-22, 2018

USAW LEVEL 1 SPORTS PERFORMANCE COACHING COURSE

This introduction to weightlifting training is open to anyone 17 years of age or older.  The scope and sequence of this course includes the teaching progressions of the Snatch, Clean& Jerk, and all associated movements. Participants will gain knowledge and experience of programming of training for both competitive weightlifters and for athletes using the weightlifting movements for strength and power development as it applies their chosen sport. The course includes theoretical classroom, and practical hands-on portions. Course duration is over one weekend and lasts approximately 13-14 hours divided between lecture and practical training. This course is applicable for Strength & Conditioning/Sports Performance, Health & Fitness and beginning level competitive Weightlifting Coaches.  Participants who successfully complete USAW's Sport Performance Certification may become USAW Club Coach certified with the subsequent passing of a criminal background screening. 

2 Day Course:

·       Includes certification as USA Weightlifting Sport Performance Coach
·       Certified Sport Performance coaches may achieve Club Coach status with successful passing of criminal background screening. 
·       A Club Coach is required for formation of a USA Weightlifting Registered Club.
·       Coaches' Liability Insurance is available to certified coaches. 
·       Course cost:  $499, plus membership

UPDATE: This meet has already fulfilled the required number of participants to run so the course will be happening.
